Socialization is a crucial step in helping our puppies develop a feeling of safety in their environment in the future. Socialization, when done correctly can prevent major behavioural issues. The critical socialization period is between 3 and 16 weeks of age. During this time we must socialize our puppies by bringing them around things we think they may see in the future to encourage a healthy, well balanced, emotionally stable dog. After 16 weeks of age this critical window starts to close, so time is of the essence!

However, we must socialize in a way where our puppies feel safe, otherwise our socialization efforts could have the opposite effect. The best way to do this is to have a controlled environment where we are able to help all puppies socializing feel safe. In these sessions your puppy will have the opportunity to socialization with other puppies, humans, new sounds, and new objects within a controlled environment.

Sessions are held twice a week for at Raising Canine’s Calgary NW location. (No sessions on long weekends). We recommend that you bring your puppy twice a week if you can, as the socialization window is quite small.

So.. come socialize while your puppy socializes in a safe environment!

All family members are encouraged to attend!

Registration Requirements:

• Puppies must be under 6 months old
• Must have at least the 2nd round of vaccinations.
• Must be friendly with other dogs and people.
  • If you puppy demonstrates reactive behaviour such as barking, lunging, growling, and biting when close to other dogs and/or people, a class setting will be too overwhelming for him.
  • We recommend you register for our 6 week, Reactive Dog Recovery Program at Raising Canine, and/or, Private Sessions, which are conducted in the security of your own home.
