Agility and Focus Training (Level 1 & Level 2) in Calgary

The purpose of Agility and Focus Training are a set of novel level classes to provide continued learning for adolescent puppies who graduated from Puppy Training Classes, as well as for adult and rescue dogs, with an emphasis on developing calm behaviour while having fun.

While your adolescent puppies or adult dogs are having fun learning how to navigate agility equipment, they will also be refining basics behaviours such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come When Called, To Your Place, and Loose Leash Walking.  By the end of each class, your fur-child will be pleasantly tired from both the physical and mental exercise.

The classes are fun, uncomplicated and enjoyable for the dog’s human family as well.

Agility and Focus Training IS NOT for dogs that are already demonstrating reactive behaviour (excessive barking, lunging, growling when near other dogs and/or people).  If you do register your reactive dog for Agility and Focus Training, and then she demonstrates reactive behaviour in class, for the sake of your pup’s emotional well-being, you will be asked to take your dog home where she feels safe and is no longer in a situation where she is “practicing” reactive behaviour.

As we care about your dog’s mental health, we want to help you with your dog’s reactive behaviour, so we will then offer you to attend the Reactive Dog Recovery Program (RDRP) and/or Private Sessions (PS) by transferring the full funds you paid for Agility and Focus Training toward this.

Should you make the decision not to attend RDRP or PS, we will then refund you the amount paid, minus $50 cancellation fee.

Classes are 45 minutes long, held once a week for 6 weeks at Raising Canine’s Calgary NW location.

Class size is kept small (4 dogs) to ensure optimum learning.

Why Do Agility and Focus Training?

These non-competitive, non-judgmental, and fun Agility and Focus Training classes are a wonderful follow up to Puppy Training Classes, and to any dog (puppy or adult).  The classes also help your dog learn focus and calm behaviour through both physical and mental exercises.

Your dog will learn to go through hoops and tunnels, go over jumps, go over a bridge, learn peek a boo, crawl, roll over, and play dead.

Requirements to Attend Agility and Focus Training

All group training classes are only for dogs that are at ease with other canines and people. If your dog exhibits reactive behaviour such as uncontrolled lunging, barking, growling, or severe symptoms of anxiety when in a group setting, these sessions will be too stressful for both you and your dog to attend.

If you have a reactive dog, we recommend our Reactive Dog Recovery Program and/or Private Dog Training sessions to help with these issues.
