Dog Training Classes Calgary NW
We have been training puppies and dogs since 2005 and follow the philosophy that dogs learn best when the focus of their training includes both their emotional and physical well-being. In our dog training classes we use ‘Positive Reinforcement Training’ methods that are fun, safe, and promote a force free, fear free, and pain free experience, all while following the latest evidence based information. We do not use training methods that are psychologically or physically intimidating!
Our classes are geared toward teaching people, first and foremost, how to be the best guardians for their dogs. Raising Canine’s training helps both humans and dog, live together calmly and cohesively.
It’s fun learning to use positive reinforcement methods, because it makes training your dog easy, fun, and effective long term!

Registration Requirements:

- Puppy Training Classes ARE NOT for pups that demonstrate reactive behaviour (excessive barking, lunging, growling when near other dogs and/or people). Attending a class setting is too emotionally upsetting for reactive puppies. They are unable to learn in this environment, and can cause them mental health issues going forward.
If you have a reactive puppy, we want to help you with this issue. We offer a Reactive Dog Recovery Program and/or Private Sessions where the focus is teaching you to help your puppy, think and feel safe so he can then learn to choose calm behaviour in situations that otherwise makes him feel anxious, stressed, fearful, or hyper-excited.
Please feel free to checkout these options.
The Reactive Dog Recovery Program is a 6 week training course, aimed to give dog guardians in-depth knowledge, tools, experience and confidence to help their dogs who demonstrate reactive behaviour. Reactive behaviour can be described as lunging, growling; uncontrollable barking; and/or biting when seeing other dogs, people, or things. It can be unmanageable excitement as well!
The program is designed to teach you how to help your dog learn how to live calmly in situations that typically make him anxious, stressed, fearful, over-aroused, and/or, hyper-excited.
The small class size (2 – 3 dogs only) allows for a high level of personal attention to both you and your dog. Also, so that both of you feel comfortable and safe while learning and practicing the new methods and techniques you are learning.
Our Dog Agility Classes are fun, non-competitive, non-judgemental, entry level training classes that are appropriate for pups that just graduated from Puppy Training Classes, and any other dog of any age. You’ll learn to teach your puppy or dog, agility skills such as tunnels, bridge, weave poles, jumps, platforms, and hoops. Your pooch will also develop confidence, coordination, and balance.
Dogs in this class are never forced to do any piece of equipment they are unsure of. Patience and positive reinforcement is our method of training. Once an agility skill is completed or mastered, there is wonderful clapping and support from everyone in class.
Our Dog Agility Classes ARE NOT for dogs that have fearful, stress, anxious, reactive, and/or aggressive behaviours (excessive barking, lunging, growling when near other dogs and/or people). If you do register your reactive dog for our Dog Agility Classes, for the sake of your dog’s emotional well-being, you will be asked to take your dog home where she feels safe and is no longer in a situation where she is “practicing” reactive behaviour.
As we care about your dog’s mental health, we want to help you with her reactive behaviour, so we will then offer you to attend the Reactive Dog Recovery Program (RDRP) and/or Private Sessions (PS) by transferring funds you paid, minus any agility classes you did attend.
Should you make the decision not to attend RDRP or PS, we will then refund you the amount paid for agility classes, minus $50 cancellation fee and any agility classes you did attend.

Want to enjoy NW Calgary’s abundance of off leash parks? Our off leash classes provide the education and tools to assist you and your pooch to partake in this wonderful experience by using Positive Reinforcement Training Methods.
During these outdoor off leash classes (OLC), we use fun, playful techniques and games to teach your dog Reliable Recall (Come When Called) with the 3-D’s (Distraction, Distance, Duration). This way, your dog learns how to ‘willingly’ return to you when that is asked for.
As well, your dog will be taught ‘off leash heel’ (For when you need your dog close to you), ‘leave it’ (To prevent your dog from eating things from the ground and/or chasing wildlife) , and ‘stop’ (When running in front of danger such as a approaching vehicle).
You will also be provided with information regarding the hazards, the by-laws, and the culture of off leash parks.
Classes are taught at 5 different, non-crowded, Calgary NW, off leash locations which provide safe surroundings for non-stressful learning.
Off Leash Classes ARE NOT for dogs that are already demonstrating reactive behaviour (excessive barking, lunging, growling when near other dogs and/or people). If you do register your reactive dog for Off Leash Classes, and then she demonstrates reactive behaviour in class, for the sake of your dog’s emotional well-being, you will be asked to take your dog home where she feels safe and is no longer in a situation where she is “practicing” reactive behaviour.
As we care about your dog’s mental health, we want to help you with her reactive behaviour, so we will then offer you to attend the Reactive Dog Recovery Program (RDRP) and/or Private Sessions (PS) by transferring funds you paid for OLC, minus any OLC classes you did attend.
