Puppy Training Classes at Raising Canine

Puppy playing with ball like at our puppy courses in Calgary

Puppy Training Class Format

Puppies learn best when in a playful, no harsh corrections atmosphere. Puppy brains are still underdeveloped, so they require patience and understanding when dealing with distance, distraction, and duration. At Raising Canine, we only use positive reinforcement techniques combined with individualized training for your pups personality.

Classes are held in the evening once a week at the Raising Canine Crowfoot location. Classes are 1 hour long and are held over a 6 week time period.

The class size is kept small (6 puppies only) to prevent your pup (and you) from being overwhelmed and over stimulated.

Pup Training Techniques Covered

Your little one will learn the basics such as sit, down, stay, come when called, loose leash walking, and on your spot. All techniques are taught with gentle, positive, reward based methods. Common puppy mischief and behaviours are also addressed such as biting, chewing, jumping up, and learning basic good manners.

You will also learn about puppy nutrition, health, safety, potty training, and massage and cuddle. Everything you need to know about how to raise a happy, healthy, well trained family puppy!

Our puppy training classes focus on fun, positive reward based techniques that encourage your pup to have well rounded socialization skills while learning. The classes provide ample opportunity for socialization and playtime.

While your young canines are frolicking, we teach you, the human, how to read canine body language so you know when to kindly and effectively interrupt and redirect your fur baby, and the other fur playmates, from getting too tired or over-stimulated (How to prevent puppies from fighting). This knowledge comes in handy as your puppy grows into adulthood.

At the end of the 6 week course, puppies will enjoy a graduation class where all the techniques they have learned are structured into fun games that the humans love playing as well. And yes, as is tradition at Raising Canine, at the conclusion of the grad class, the pups get their pics taking while wearing tiny puppy grad hats. (It’s really the humans that love this part!!)
